Leading someone on is a global disease of the heart. It shows up in every culture and generation, but its methods wear the fashion of the times. Today, it often begins with the small, daily gestures that seem harmless: endless late-night chats that feel romantic but are never meant to last, “soft dates” that imitate commitment without the cost, and carefully chosen compliments that keep someone emotionally orbiting you. Social media amplifies it: cryptic captions, heart emojis, couple-like photos, and playful banter that stirs curiosity and hope. Secrets are shared, private jokes are built, and a fragile intimacy grows, though marriage or true partnership is never in view.

This is not merely youthful playfulness; enyia, it is manipulation dressed as affection. Witchcraft is not only charms and dark rituals. At its root, it is the subtle control of another’s will. When a man or woman deliberately feeds emotions they have no plan to honor - catalyzing biological reactions they do not wish to harness or engage, that is casting a modern spell - bending another’s heart for ego, boredom, or validation.

Today, it has become almost fashionable - I’ve wandered there too, to indulge this QUIET DECEPTION: young hearts pressed to appear desirable, to stack “talking stages,” to hold a bouquet of options while whispering exclusivity. The screens make it effortless: several almost-relationships kept alive for the thrill of attention, zero commitment - a journey to nowhere 🙄. Hearts are lured, drained, and left circling in false hope. Only a fiercely guarded heart can survive, for the wellspring of life rises from its depths (Proverbs 4:23). And only the one who learns to master the body in holiness and honor escapes the casual games that cheapen love (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4).

Eziokwu m, the cost is heavy. False expectations waste time and delay genuine love. Emotional entanglement blinds discernment and robs the freedom to pursue God’s true plan. Scripture calls love to be truthful and freeing, not a maze of mixed signals. To lead someone on is not just unkind; it is a subtle act of witchcraft: AN EMOTIONAL SPELL THAT STEALS PEACE AND MOCKS THE SACREDNESS OF HUMAN AFFECTION.
